I started playing badminton in 1997 at the age of 11 under the coaching of my father, Sunil Jinadasa. My sister, Samantha, and I competed in our first tournament that year. I seem to remember that she did very well and I was absolutely destroyed in the first round. I loved the game though and dedicated myself to improving.
Sam and I made a run for mixed doubles in the Olympics in 2004 and reached a world ranking of #33, but it wasn't quite enough to qualify. Shortly after that run my sister retired from badminton to focus on her academic pursuits.
Since that time, I have been competing internationally in singles with my main goal being to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. I'm currently training and coaching in Bellevue, WA with Paz Ben-Sira, Curtis Stensland, and Amy Jin.
